Italia Conti Ensemble will be taking two shows to Edinburgh this year, we will be in Edinburgh from the 23rd to the 28th August 2010, and will be performing at alternating times of 13:15 and 15:15 each day.
"They Shoot Horses, Don\'t They?"
A dance hall, Los Angeles 1935: the Great Depression, farm crops failed, unemployment soared. Al Capone ruled the streets, while Fred and Ginger danced across the movie screens. In ballrooms all over America the young also danced, competing like prize fighters seeking escape from poverty, their only hope the money offered to the winners of the marathon dance contest. Couples danced for weeks on end until only one pair was left standing. Such events are not fiction; the young came with dreams of financial security or of stardom in the land of freedom and opportunity.
"Our Town"
Thornton Wilder\'s Pulitzer award-winning play, celebrates the innocent, simple and religious events of daily life. The company of actors honours Wilder\'s playing with time and reality. Every tiny moment and movement is heightened, giving a cosmic and emotional significance to the piece. Using evocative early 20th century American music, this imaginative production leads us through the unlocked screen doors to reveal the life and death of a town and a time now forgotten.
All performances are at: theSpaces on the Mile @ The Radisson.
