Conditions of Enrolment to The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts Limited

1. Students enrolled in the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts are required to obey all the Academy rules and regulations during their training.

2. A registration fee becomes payable on signature of the acceptance form by a parent or adult over the age of eighteen years responsible for the fees. This Registration Fee secures a vacancy in the Academy and is not refundable.

3. Fees must be paid in advance each term but are not returnable. Interest will be charged on overdue accounts although the Directors may refuse to permit any pupil to attend classes if the fees are outstanding.

4. One full term’s notice in writing is required before a student leaves (except on the termination of the course for which the student is enrolled).

5. In the event of a student who is already enrolled in a course intending to proceed to a further course, not less than a term’s notice in writing must be given before the end of the last term of the studentpresent s present course of such intention. The school shall be at liberty to maintain records of information in relation to the pupil in human or machine readable form and (subject to the School giving notice of it’s intention to disclose the information referred to in this paragraph), where any fees remain unpaid at the time when the pupil leaves the school, the school shall be at liberty to disclose that fact and the amount in question to any other school which the pupil subsequently attends or to which an application is made for that pupil to attend.

6. Any student unable to attend class must notify the office. A medical certificate must be produced if absent for more than 3 days.

7. The Directors cannot undertake responsibility for money or articles of value lost on the premises.

8. The Directors reserve the right to amend or alter the Conditions and Rules of the Academy at any time.

9. The Directors reserve the right to increase or alter fees as and when necessary.

10. The Directors reserve the right to ask for a pupil to be removed from the Academy for any of the following reasons:
 
a) Should it be found that the pupil is not responding to training.
b) For misbehaviour or wilful damage.
c) For poor attendance.
d) For any breach of Academy rules, conditions or regulations etc.

11. Should it be necessary to close the Academy on account of epidemic or national crisis, or any circumstances over which the Principal has no control, fees cannot be returned or compensation made for any period of training lost.

12. The directors may, at their absolute discretion and without assigning any reason at any time, conclude the course of tuition in respect of any student, and in that event no further fees shall be payable by such student, and such student shall not be entitled to claim the return of any fees, or any part thereof already paid.

13. We regret that the academy cannot be responsible for finding accommodation for students.

14. Students enrolled at the Academy will, at the Directors’ discretion, be offered sole agency representation through its associate company The Italia Conti Agency and if accepted agree to all their terms and conditions. Students are not allowed to accept work from any other source and in no circumstanced will a remission of Academy fees be allowed should a student be given permission to work during term time.

15. Any outstanding Academy fees will, in the event of a student working professionally, be offset against Agency earnings.

16. Any student who breaks the Academy’s rules and conditions including attending professional auditions, casting sessions or accepting offers of work without written permission from the Directors, or whose class absence exceeds 10% (medical reasons with certificates excepted) may be expelled. This will be considered as breaking the entry conditions and contract, the current term’s and the following term’s fees will be liable. As Councils/Charities will not pay fees for expelled students the liability will fall on whoever has signed the entry contract.

17. No student in the Academy, at any time prior to completion of their course, may sign any agreement or otherwise come to an understanding with regard to his or her professional services with any Artist’s Agent, Manager or Company while still a pupil unless offered or written permission is given by the Directors.

18. Only in exceptional circumstances and with written permission of the Directors will students on the 3 year courses be allowed to attend casting sessions, auditions or accept engagements before the final term of the course. An exception may be made for students who are already Equity members and who have previously attended the Junior School. These students may be allowed, at the Directors’ discretion, to accept engagements for a strictly limited period providing their progress and attendance is satisfactory. Students on one year foundation courses may apply to the Italia Conti Agency doe representative consideration upon completion of their courses during their final term.

19. We regret that the Academy is unable to accept private telephone calls for the pupils and under no circumstances (unless prior written permission has been received) can pupils’ private addresses, telephone numbers or any other personal details be enclosed.

3. The Italia Conti Agency is an independent company and represents Artists in its own right, but also works in close association with The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. The Agency will endeavour, at the Academy’s discretion and in accordance with their rules and conditions, to advise and guide Academy pupils who may enrol with them, but cannot guarantee them employment.

4. The Italia Conti Agency reserves the right upon termination of Academy pupils’ courses, to a two year option contract. Such option to be taken up 30 days prior to the courses’ completion.

5. Any student who attends an audition or casting or accepts an engagement without written permission of the Directors may be immediately suspended from the Academy.

6. On entry to the Academy, pupils enrolled with the Agency must supply them with a set of professional photographs which should be renewed periodically. Details can be obtained upon request.

7. All Agency Artists are advised to advertise in ‘Spotlight’, entry to which will be arranged by the agency. It is compulsory for all Artists to appear in the Agency Casting Directory when produced.

8. Students enrolled with the Agency agree to their terms and conditions, and the Agency reserve the right to amend or alter their terms and conditions at any time.

9. Parents of child artists under school leaving age are advised that the current licensing laws for children are rigidly enforced. Accurate records on all days which a child has worked must be kept by the child’s parent guardian and they should familiarise themselves with the current rules and regulations. Records and all details of licences are issued are also kept by education authorities.

10. Parents are reminded that it is an offence to let a child work without a licence, and that they are subject to a fine or imprisonment or both, for any breach of the regulations.

11. All Artists are encouraged to become members of British Actors Equity at the earliest opportunity. Information can be obtained from the Agency Office upon request.
